ALGOP Assails Democrats for Denying Democrat Party Women’s Group Right to have Representation on Executive Board

Birmingham, AL – The Alabama Democrat Party has once again shown just how big their tent really is as they have denied the President of the Alabama Federation of Democratic Women the right to have a seat on the Party’s Executive Board. The Alabama Republican Party is proud that Mrs. Elois Zeanah, President of the Alabama Federation of Republican Women, and all previous and past Presidents of the organization are, by nature of their position, automatically afforded a seat on the Party’s Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is the governing body of the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee.

The Alabama Democrat Party tabled a motion during their weekend meeting that would have allowed the AFDW to place their President on the governing body of the Alabama Democrat Party.

Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, blasted the decision by a few powerful Democrats to deny women due representation on the State Party Executive Board:

“We are extremely proud that the Alabama Federation of Republican Women are apart of our governing body and can’t think of a bigger slap in the face than for the Democrat elite to deny them that right,” Hubbard said. “We hear Democrat bosses time and time again falling all over themselves to cast Republicans in a negative light when it comes to Party inclusion - well the proof is in the pudding.”

“The Alabama Republican Party recognizes and appreciates the hard work and input of every segment of our conservative base, and are happy to provide equal representation to all groups,” Hubbard added. “I think this speaks volumes of the state of the Democrat Party in Alabama, and smacks of the same back room politics that is so prevalent within their majority in the Legislature.”
