Bentley with Substantial Lead in Governor’s Race, ALGOP Chairman Encourages Republicans to Stay Engaged
Birmingham, AL – Rasmussen released numbers today on the Alabama Governor’s race between Republican Robert Bentley and Democrat Ron Sparks. With only 7% undecided, Robert Bentley has a substantial 20 percentage point lead over Ron Sparks (poll HERE). Rasmussen has offered an early indicator of things to come for Alabama Republicans in November.
While Bentley’s 20 point margin is very strong, Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, encouraged voters to remain engaged:
“I am certainly not surprised that Robert Bentley is beating Ron Sparks by such a substantial margin - Bentley’s a conservative Republican and Sparks is a liberal Democrat who supports Obamacare. In today’s political environment this should be a pretty clear distinction for voters,” Hubbard said. “However I urge voters to be mindful that while Dr. Bentley has a commanding lead they must stay engaged and committed to voting in November.”
“We have a powerful ticket this year from top to bottom, and a great opportunity to break the strangle hold that Democrats have had on the Legislature for 136 years. I encourage Alabamians to mark November 2nd on their calendars, and to vote Republican so that we can move our state forward, continue to recruit industry that will put people back to work and to build a better future for our children through innovative education initiatives,” Hubbard added.
