ALGOP Chair Issues Statement on Hubbert Resignation from AL. Democrat Party
Statement from Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party regarding the resignation of union boss Paul Hubbert from AL Democrat Party:
“It’s our hope that Paul Hubbert’s resignation as a Vice-Chairman of the Alabama Democrat Party came at the urging of teachers who disagree fundamentally with the Democrat Party. However, Hubbert has used the AEA PAC to fully fund the Alabama Democrat Party for decades - the Democrats are basically a wholly owned subsidiary of the AEA. Using funds from Republican and Independent teachers to provide Democrats with a slush fund isn’t exactly looking out for the best interests of your members. Unless Paul Hubbert plans to stop using teacher dues to keep the lights on over at Democrat Party Headquarters then this resignation announcement is nothing but a pr stunt.”
