Recount Complete for Alabama Republican Governor’s Primary

Birmingham — With all 67 counties reporting their recount totals in the Governor’s race, Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party issues the following statement:

“I personally thank each and every Republican County Chairman and Probate Judge who led the recount effort statewide and appreciate their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the accuracy and transparency of this recount.

“This was an unprecedented challenge that we undertook and I could not be more proud of our staff and our volunteers for the manner in which they handled what could have been a major problem with long-lasting consequences. We, as a Party, also thank the voters for their patience while we followed the guidelines that we were provided for this recount and I believe the outcome reflects the will of the people as it relates to the Republican Primary.

“Finally, we applaud Secretary of State Beth Chapman for her leadership in assisting us to better understand the parameters that we were to follow pertaining to the protocol for this recount. Her office gave us the roadmap, and by following her guidelines we were able to successfully carry out this extremely sensitive recount.

“We look forward to putting this behind us and taking on the next steps as we work towards a very important Runoff Election. The winner on July 13 will be the only conservative in the Governor’s race, and we fully believe that our nominee will be the next Governor of the State of Alabama.”
