Alabama Voters Choose Republican Ballot, Reject Democrat Party
Birmingham — The unofficial results from Tuesday’s Primary leave little doubt that voters in Alabama are overwhelmingly aligned with the Republican Party. For only the second time in the modern era, more Republicans voted than Democrats in Tuesday's primary, 61% to 39% respectively. Unofficially, 492,480 voted in the Republican Primary and 319,608 voted Democrat, giving Republicans a staggering 172,872 vote turnout victory.
Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, issued the following statement regarding the strength of the GOP in Alabama.
“What we are witnessing is the growth of the Republican Party and the decline of the Democrat Party in Alabama,” Hubbard said. “Voters in Alabama clearly align themselves with our Party's philosophy and our candidates. I believe voters realize that Democrats only offer more spending, higher taxes and more corruption while Republicans stand for smaller government, lower taxes, personal responsibility and ending the culture of corruption in Montgomery. We are poised to lead Alabama back to its conservative roots.”
“It’s no secret that elections are won and lost by the numbers, and looking at Tuesday’s vote totals, I am extremely optimistic about the Republican Party's opportunity to make history in November,” Hubbard added.
