Dems Shun Ethics on Day One, Turn Backs on Alabama Children
On Day One of Session, Democrats Prove that Ethics and Accountability not a Priority
On day one of the session, Sen Roger Bedford introduced SJR9, which was a resolution to disapprove of the educator's code of ethics. As Republicans stood up in support of ethics reform, not one Democrat voted for increased accountability.
Philip Bryan, Communications Director for the Alabama Republican Party, released the following statement regarding Democrat resolution to reject the educator code of ethics:
"It's disappointing, but not surprising to us, that the Democrat leadership has rejected ethics reform. This ethics code was developed by teachers for teachers and other educators. It has been used by school systems as part of their teacher training since 2005, when the State Board of Education unanimously approved it as a resolution.
Not only is it a true testament of where they stand on ethics reform, it is reprehensible that Democrats would work to undermine efforts to protect Alabama children.
Democrats continue to demonstrate that their priorities are not in line with those of the the people of Alabama - just one more reason that we must end their culture of corruption in November."
