HD40 Special Election Primary Results in Runoff
K.L. Brown & Jay Dill in Runoff for House District 40
Birmingham — The voting in today’s Republican primary election for State House District 40 requires the Alabama Republican Party to conduct a runoff to decide the Party’s nominee. K.L. Brown and Jay Dill will vie for the Republican nomination in the runoff on Tuesday, February 16th. The winner of the runoff will face Democrat Ricky Whaley in the special general election to be held Tuesday, March 30th.
“All five of our candidates ran clean races and worked tirelessly to get their message out to the voters and we applaud their efforts,” remarked Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. “Regardless of the outcome of the runoff between K.L. Brown and Jay Dill, our candidate will reflect the values and principles of the district – that said, we are confident that a Republican will be the next Representative for House District 40.”
Unofficial results of today’s vote: K.L. Brown -46.5%, Jay Dill -19.6%, Debra Jones – 18.3%, Bill Lester -10.2% and Tom Shelton – 5.3%
