After Sanford Blowout in SD7, ALGOP Focuses on HD6
Birmingham – One week removed from Senator Paul Sanford’s monumental victory in Senate District 7, the Alabama Republican Party focuses its efforts and resources on House District 6. Republican candidate Phil Williams picked up the Party’s nomination for this special election by winning the primary outright. Since his win, Williams has received the full backing of all of his primary opponents, and the Alabama Republican Party is also fully engaged in helping the William’s campaign.
The Party has already produced and placed a television spot for Williams – to view, please click here. Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, noted that the Party’s role in House District 6 will be almost identical to the plan that led to victory in Senate District 7.
“Obviously we found a model in the Senate District 7 race that works, and our team will basically run the same plan that led to Senator Sanford’s landslide win,” Hubbard said. “We also have an outstanding candidate in Phil Williams, so I think we have put ourselves in a good position to take another Democrat seat.”
“When we announced Campaign 2010 almost two years ago, this is what I envisioned,” Hubbard added. “We wanted the Party to have the money to produce tv spots for candidates, to run a strategic direct mail and media campaign and to provide support staff on the ground to turn out the vote – to see it all come together, is very exciting.”
