Brown Wins in Massachusetts, Sets Tone For 2010

Democrat Legislators caved to the powerful special interest group that is a major donor to their party - and effectively killed the proposed teachers Code of Ethics.

The Code, which was written by teachers for teachers, and was approved by the State Board of Education, set ethical standards for conduct by educators. However, the AEA instructed Democrats to block the measure, calling some of the standards "vague" and "controversial."

On Day One of Session, Democrats Prove that Ethics and Accountability not a Priority

On day one of the session, Sen Roger Bedford introduced SJR9, which was a resolution to disapprove of the educator's code of ethics. As Republicans stood up in support of ethics reform, not one Democrat voted for increased accountability.

Philip Bryan, Communications Director for the Alabama Republican Party, released the following statement regarding Democrat resolution to reject the educator code of ethics:
