Responsible Budgeting Comes to Montgomery

The new Republican majority in Montgomery continues to keep their promises to the voters of Alabama. Yesterday, the Responsible Budgeting and Spending Act, sponsored by Representative Greg Canfield, passed through both houses of the state legislature and was today signed into law by Governor Robert Bentley. The new law will help break the cycle of proration in the state education fund by budgeting on a 15 year rolling revenue average.

Last week, for the first time in 136 years, the Alabama Legislature was gaveled in under Republican leadership. The new Republican majority did not waste time getting to work following through on the promises made during the 2010 campaign.  But, now they need your help!

Birmingham – The Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee elected former State Senator Bill Armistead as the new chairman at our Winter Meeting in Montgomery on Saturday, February 19th.  After the results were announced, Armistead’s competition, current State Representative Jay Love, graciously conceded and mounted the platform with his wife, Cheri, to congratulate Armistead, who was standing at the podium with his wife, Emily.
