ALGOP Launches New ‘136 Years is Long Enough’ Advertising Campaign
Birmingham, AL – Beginning today and continuing through November 2nd, Alabamians throughout the state will be seeing billboards in their communities that bear the Alabama Republican Party’s 136 Years is Long Enough message. The billboard campaign, which has been funded through a donation by Alabama Federation of Republican Women, invites viewers to visit www.136years.com, a website set up specifically for this campaign.
The Alabama Republican Party launched the 136 Years is Long Enough campaign as a part of its overall Campaign 2010 effort, with the goal of educating voters of the fact that Democrats have controlled the Legislature since 1874 – 136 years. The Party previously unveiled the voter education initiative with an initial web video, which can be viewed HERE, as well as the 136 Years website. Phase two includes strategically placed billboards, online advertising, yard signs as well as a new video which specifically points out some of the reasons that 136 years is long enough. The design of the billboards is attached, and the new web video may be seen HERE.
Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, stated that he believes voters are tired of 136 years of Democrat control, corruption, higher taxes and wasteful spending – which points towards a banner year for Republicans in 2010.
“This campaign is about opening the eyes of Alabamians to the culture of corruption, wasteful spending and arrogance of the Democrat Party,” Hubbard said. “Democrats have been able to hide their antics and abuses of power from voters for far too long, so we are pleased that voters are rallying behind our 2010 effort. The fact remains that Obama, Pelosi and the Democrat Party all believe they own the government, and I am confident that the taxpayers are ready to prove them wrong in November.
“We are certainly thankful for the Alabama Federation of Republican Women’s willingness to buy into our strategy and provide the funding for this effort,” Hubbard added. “Their organization is an invaluable component to the success of the Alabama Republican Party.”
